How to Verify a Scholarship and Its Official Application Page

Use this source-checking process before relying on a scholarship post or submitting personal information. A directory can help you discover an opportunity, but the provider's current instructions are authoritative.

Start from the organization that awards or administers it

Identify the named university, government body, foundation, embassy, or program administrator. Search for the opportunity from that organization's own website rather than treating a social post, forwarded message, or third-party listing as proof.

Check that the page is on the organization's genuine domain and that its contact details and other program information are consistent with the rest of the site. A familiar logo or a secure connection alone does not establish that a page is official.

  1. Open the institution's main website independently and use its navigation or site search to locate the scholarship.
  2. Follow links between the official scholarship page and any application portal. Check that the provider identifies the portal as its application service.
  3. If an announcement is hosted by a partner, find confirmation on the awarding organization's website or contact it using details published there.

Compare the important details with the current call

Read the current call for applications, not just a summary. Compare the eligible applicant group, study level, program or subject restrictions, funding components, required documents, selection process, and closing date. These terms can differ between award cycles.

Look for a publication year or application cycle. An old page can remain online after applications close. If the cycle is unclear, ask the provider whether the opportunity is open before planning around it.

  1. Write down the exact deadline, including its time and time zone if provided.
  2. Separate confirmed benefits from conditional items, such as travel support subject to approval or accommodation subject to availability.
  3. Note any required language tests, degree status, residency, nationality, age, or subject restrictions.

Treat fees and requests for sensitive information carefully

Do not assume that an application fee is legitimate just because a message uses an institution's name. Confirm any charge directly in the official call and through the provider's published contact channel. Never pay an individual or send money to secure an award unless the institution's official instructions clearly explain the process.

A scholarship application may request personal documents, but only submit them through a verified application channel and only when the official instructions require them. Do not send passwords, banking login details, or one-time security codes to someone claiming to be a scholarship agent.

Keep a source record and report discrepancies

Save the official call URL, the date you checked it, and a copy of the key requirements for your own planning. Recheck the page before applying because providers may publish corrections or extend a deadline.

If a directory summary disagrees with the official page, follow the provider's current instructions and let the directory know which detail needs correction. EduGlobalScholarship welcomes corrections through its Contact page; listings are discovery aids and do not replace provider verification.
